A museum at our feet

Boats, airplanes, cars, motorcycles ...

Whether it’s a ship purposely sunk to serve as an artificial reef for divers, or a ship sunk as a result of an accident, wrecks are fascinating windows into the past. Ships, airplanes, and even cars are fascinating to explore and are usually teeming with aquatic life. Each dive into a wreck offers an opportunity to discover, possibly decipher a mystery or spy on something that others have lost. The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course is very popular because it offers rewarding adventures while following responsible wreck diving practices.
If you are at least 15 years old and have achieved your PADI Adventure Diver certification or higher, you can participate in the Wreck Diver Specialty Course.

What am I going to learn

There are many different types of wrecks, some of which are protected by laws that preserve their historical and cultural significance. Your training begins by reviewing the guidelines for exploring and respecting wrecks. During four dives, you will learn:

Safety considerations for navigating and exploring wrecks.
Study and realization of maps of a wreck.
Use of reels and penetration ropes to aid exploration.
Techniques to avoid removing the sediment or spoiling the wreck and disturbing its inhabitants.

Additionally, the first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course can serve as credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
