Sidemount Course


The Sidemount diving course in cenotes offers a unique underwater exploration experience. Here’s a summary of how the course unfolds:

  1. Equipment setup: You will learn how to properly set up the Sidemount diving equipment. This includes the harness, BCD, as well as the necessary tanks and regulators for this configuration.

  2. Weight adjustment and balance: You will be taught how to adjust your weight system and Sidemount gear to achieve perfect balance in the water. This is crucial for a safe and comfortable diving experience.

  3. Gas management: In case of using two tanks, you’ll learn gas management by switching second stages as planned. This skill is essential to maintain adequate air supply during the dive.

  4. Problem response: You’ll receive training on how to correctly respond to potential problems that may arise during Sidemount diving. This includes problem-solving techniques and safety measures.

Requirements for the course:

  • You must hold an Open Water Diver certification.
  • The minimum age requirement is 15 years old.

The course has a duration of 3 days and includes a total of 6 dives:

  • 2 dives in cenotes with single tank equipment to assess your initial level.
  • 2 confined water dives to practice exercises and improve skills with the Sidemount configuration.
  • 2 dives in cenotes using the Sidemount configuration, where you’ll apply what you’ve learned previously.

The necessary Sidemount diving equipment, such as the harness, BCD, and tanks, is not included in the course but can be rented. Additionally, you’ll have constant assistance from an instructor throughout the course to ensure a safe and enriching experience.
